REFLECTION
Working on this dissertation was actually quite challenging for me. I had to constantly think about how I can shape my sentence well in a way that is understandable yet looks professional. I had to rely on ChatGPT a lot regarding this matter, and that meant I also had to rephrase a big part of it to reduce the AI percentage. In addition, I had to make sure that the overall text was not too long, considering my research findings alone had taken a huge part of the research paper. I also received several revisions regarding the clarity of my text in some sections of the dissertation paper, and I spent a lot of time thinking about how to further refine them without relying too much on ChatGPT.
Since the beginning, I encouraged myself by thinking that this course is a matter of refining my words from my past courses, Design Research Methodology, into a proper paper, and the rest is just typing the words into the paper. Yet, while making the draft, my brain often worked so hard to the point of exhaustion and stressed myself out, on top of worrying about my other subjects as well. There are times when I was very burnt out and didn’t feel like continuing the subject, but I pushed through partly because I don’t have any more semesters to spare without extending my study.
However, in that process, I was also very encouraged by Dr Jinchi. Although Dr Jinchi is quite strict in assessing my draft layout and wordings, she was very kind throughout the process. We even had small talks during the consultation, and even though it was brief, it really boosted my morale and encouraged me to push through. I was a bit worried every time I was lacking in my progress every week since I was also overwhelmed by other subjects, but the consultation was quite relaxed, and it eased my feelings a little bit more. I also know that any feedback given to me is to ensure that I can pass this subject well.
Overall, it was honestly a wild ride for me, but I was really grateful for the support given by my supervisor in making sure that I could make it to the end, and assisting me in any difficulties or questions I had. And now that I have reached the end, I am relieved, happy, and grateful.
