Redesigning an Infographic with Online Tools
In this task we are instructed to use an online tool to redesign what we think
is a poorly constructed infographic poster.
I started by scrolling through Pinterest looking for a design that I think I
could fix, until I finally found a particular design that I think could work.
I have noted a few flaws in this particular poster:
- This poster uses so many art styles for it's visual/illustration, which I think is distracting
- The lineart for no.2's visual is so thin or light in color so it blends in with the background
- The way the numbers are put are very messy. No 1 and no 2 flows nicely but suddenly 3 is on the opposite side, and no 6 is put above no 5's left side, which is against reading flow
- The placements of the text and the illustrations are too close together, hindering reading flow
- Too many fonts are used in this poster, which is a bit distracting
- Explanations for every pointers are not given
Fixing the Infographic
First off, I wanted to decide what I should use for the image in the
infographics. I have this idea to serve as the visuals. I could help give
out an elegant look as well as keeping the visuals consistent.
Another good thing about mockups is that you could change the colors or
labels according to your need. In my case in that picture, I want to
make a face cleanser. So I changed the cleanser to the color I want, and
gave some simple no-brand label to make it fancier. The text added in
there is just a random text to make the product look cooler and more
engaging to consumer, even though it's just a dummy lol.
Next is the text. I looked into the website attached to the link given
in that image post, and saw that there are a bunch of text explaining
the points written on the original poster.
After some reading, I noticed this is actually an advertisement to a
product called Pure Fuji. But since my objective is to redesign the
poster regardless of the advertisement, I decided to leave that part
out. I will only be focusing on the main content and remaking it to a
better layout.
I noted all the important points that are written in that text, and try
to shorten it a bit so it fits the poster.
I decided to use blue color palettes for the poster. It was initially because I
had too much fun making the mockups with blue color, but then I saw
that blue color kind of fits the poster theme and makes the poster
look like an actual skincare product advertisement.
Aside from product mockups, I also used some women photos from freepik
to use as visual. They are all realistic looking so both the objects
or subjects don't clash with each other.

After I think the text is done I try to do some decorating because the
background is looking a bit plain. I gave some gentle clouds on the
background and I think they are a really pretty addition because they
are subtle enough so they won't steal the attention from the main
objects.
In addition, I also gave a light blue warning symbols because this
poster is warning the audience about skincare mistakes and their
results, and some sparkles because a good skincare will make your face
"sparkle" lol.
While working on the poster, I also feel like some of the text are still a
bit too long to fit properly, so I had to try to shorten it some more. In
this case I used Chatgpt to help me with the task.
In the end I also gave some Korean letter spelling "skincare" at the bottom
to help filling the empty space at the bottom. Though the other reason is
just me messing around with the design.
